If you’ve never tried sweet potatoes or yams, you don’t know what you’re missing.  Yams are long, skinny and part of the lily family.  Their flesh colour varies from purple to ivory to yellow.  They are a good source of potassium and fibre especially if you eat the skin too.  (If you’re planning to eat the skin, it’s best to fns the organic variety.)  We grew up eating various types of baked yams and sweet potatoes as snack.  Here’s a detailed article about the difference between the two.

This recipe is so easy to make.  In fact, it is the EASIEST recipe I have on the blog.  All you need is ONE ingredient – yams.  Literally.

Instructions:

Heat oven to 400F.  In the meantime, wash and scrub the yams with a potato brush.  Place whole yams on a baking sheet covered with aluminum foil.  Place in the oven and bake for 40 minutes.  THAT IS IT.  Making a deliciously satisfying appetizer can’t be any simpler than this!

All done!  It looks…. rustic.. it might not look as appetizing as lots of my other dishes.. BUT
